Your website has a new job
Buyers and AI-search tools both read your website now.
In our free Messaging and Findability Audit, we show you what each of them learns from it and what they miss.
The challenge
You know what you’ve built. Do people and machines?
Your buyers hear about you from their peers, then visit your website to confirm what they heard.
You probably ask AI-search tools about your company and your competitors yourself.
More and more often, so do your buyers, before they ever visit your site. ChatGPT, Perplexity, Claude, and Google read your website and repeat what they find.
Here are a few of the problems we’ve found on live commercial websites:
- Vague, unclear, or undifferentiated value propositions. If you can swap in another company’s name on your messaging, it’s time to capture and declare how you uniquely deliver value to your buyers.
- Pages that don’t connect with buyers. They describe solutions without mentioning the challenge they solve, who the buyer is, or how the buyer benefits from the solution.
- Key numbers that load in JavaScript widgets, but only when a visitor scrolls to the section where they appear. Crawlers read every one of them as zero: 0 customers helped, 0% time saved, 0% improved results.
- Product pages marked up as blog posts, without price and currency markup, AI-search tools can’t reliably tell what the company sells on the page or what it costs. Some read a decimal comma as a decimal point, so €1.490,00 becomes €1.49.
Javascript counters that start at zero and count up only when a visitor scrolls to them.
Crawlers don’t scroll; they read the page as it first loads, so they record the zeros, and tell the world the wrong story.
What your free audit covers
- Messaging: we check whether your site names the challenges your solution solves and the benefits it brings, in the words your buyers use and connect with.
- Machine readability: we check your structured data (the markup that machines read), your page types, whether crawlers can read your content, and more.
- AI answers: we ask Perplexity and Google about your business the way your buyers would, in your own terms, by category (“I’m looking for an X in Germany”), and by your company name.
- Recommendations: we give you three or four messaging and findability fixes, in order of impact.
All we need is your website address. A senior strategist runs your audit, and you keep a copy of the written report.
If you want the full picture, we can follow up with a paid in-depth audit and a plan.
If the audit shows gaps you need to fix …
Findability starts with a source of shared meaning
Machines can only repeat a consistent story if your company tells one. Open Strategy Partners (OSP) is a strategic marketing agency for B2B technology companies. For 10 years, we’ve built our client work on the OSP Value Map: a fact-based record of every feature and how it delivers value.
With the Value Map, your teams get a source of shared meaning: definitions everyone agrees on and stands behind. Your website then becomes the authoritative record of what you do, and machines read it and cite it.
Keeping the Value Map and your website current is an ongoing knowledge management capability. We help you build it and run it.
The Open Strategy Partners analysis forced us to be super clear and focused. OSP pushed us to be more precise — they forced us to make bolder statements, be more confident, and position ourselves more clearly.
Everything around it was super, super helpful for us, a real eye-opener.
OSP was able to put together a fantastic analysis that made obvious and clear the great benefits of our program and structure them in a way that we could clearly communicate them.
The rigor they brought to the table in guiding us made all the difference.
